The Lorax movie

March9

Friday March 9th was a huge milestone for our family.  We took both kids to the movie theater and saw The Lorax.  I was concerned that Levi wouldn’t make it through an entire movie.  But Richard promised if he acted up, he would take him out of the theater so I could stay with Piper and see the whole movie.  What do you know! Levi did really well!  He walked between his Daddy and I several times but other than that, he was really good.  This was Piper’s first movie theater experience as well.  We took her to a movie when she was an infant and I was still nursing, she just ate through the whole movie and was okay.  Then Levi came along and we decided to write off our love of movie theaters until they were a little older.  I’m so happy that time has come now.  I miss the theater experience.  Now it is time to worry about the content of the movies I will be putting into my kids face.  I highly recommend The Lorax.  Good message, good characters.  Nothing scary for the tiny viewers.

March 2nd – A huge day for us!  Last night was the first SolPowerPeople MOOC webinar.  And it was a success!  And today Ryan and Cathy picked up our new van with our logo graphics back in Austin!  The pictures look amazing but I can’t wait to see it in person.  Also, today, Richard was met by the owner of the RV park we are staying at.  He is really into the Solar PV movement and has offered us to host our class here at the park for a much cheaper fee instead of paying high dollar in downtown Santa Fe.  That just saved us $1000!  Things are just feeling good and going great!  Loving the adventure of seeing all of the hard work Richard, Cathy and Ryan have been putting into this finally coming to fruition.

March 3rd Piper is dealing with a slight fever.  Not herself.   We had lots of cuddling and napping today.

March 4th Richard took 2 hours off work and joined us on a trip into downtown Santa Fe today.  It was still work related, as we were looking at the venue to hosts the farmers market on the weekends.  He is planning to set up a table there to advertise for our classes in the next couple weeks.  It was so wonderful to have some Daddy time.  I’m getting the lay of the land here.  I ran errands this morning and I didn’t get lost!  And even knew where I was most of the time!  Most exciting part of today is knowing Cathy and Ryan left Austin today.  They are heading this way.  It is all happening now!

Santa Fe

March1

Monday Feb 27th the four of us set out for our 1 month stay in Santa Fe.  Despite a tire losing air on the RV in the mountains we arrived to our destination on Tuesday safe and sound.  It feels really great to be at a place we can settle down into and just work our butt off at getting this amazing business going.  Santa Fe is where our first class will be held.  I’m so proud of our team and all we have done to get to this place in all our lives.

First few days in Santa Fe are WINDY!  I remember it being windy here from our short visit back in the summer of 2010 but add the cooler temperatures and Burrr…. it’s very cold to me.  The kids are a little restless after all the snow playing and now being in the RV so much.  We are all getting over a little sinus yucky so I don’t want them out too much right now.  Lots of book reading, coloring and movie watching right now.   I have the playground picked out for the next nice day.

Park City Vacation!

February27

Wednesday through Monday we have a “vacation”. Richard worked all night or early morning every day and squeezed in some fun in the snow every once in awhile. I guess that is the closest thing to a vacation as we can ask for right now!

Piper skied for the 2nd time this year.  She only went one day but she stayed on the slopes for many hours.

We enjoyed the Alpine Coaster and zip line in the mountains.

And also went snow tubing down ice hills. Piper took part in all these activities and LOVED it. She is quite the speed junkie!

The Journey

February22

Sunday Feb 19th we got to Pagosa Springs despite a flat tire on our tow dolly and our first unnerving encounter with a snowstorm during the final nighttime hours of our drive into town.  We parked the RV right in town and jumped into the hot springs. So the tense drive was well worth it.  I highly recommend the hot springs there in Pagosa.

Monday morning the 20th, we wake to frozen water pipes.  We spend all day in Durango, Home Depot parking lot, winterizing our RV.  Greatest part of this was that we didn’t make it to Park City as expected but had to stay in Moab, UT that night.  What a beautiful place to wake up to!  We will vacation here some day when the kids are old enough to hike.  Amazing Place!

Tuesday 21st, we set out to our goal city!  Oops, flat tire on our tow dolly….AGAIN.

At this point, I’m all out of movies, books, songs, and patience and just REALLY want to get to Park City!

First day of travel

February18

Sat Feb 18th 2012 – We left our home in Austin, TX for a ten month US solar training tour. We set out with our friend and fellow company owner Ryan, his “Lady” Shelley and their 13 year old son and 7 year old daughter.  Yes, that is 8 of us in the RV!  We have a 40 ft motor home.  It has 2 couches that can each be made into full size beds.  I opted to leave one as a couch and lay one down into a bed.  My hope is that there will be lots of napping.  Richard is the only one who can legally drive because of the size of our rig he needed to get a Class B non-commercial license. Ryan sat up front with Richard and Shelley, the kids and I piled on the bed and couch.  It was really great and so comfortable!  We stayed in Slayton TX the first night on the road.  All and all a fairly uneventful day.

The Stovall family is on the road!

This is my try at a blog.  I am attempting to do this for my children. My sweet, 3 year old girl, Piper and my little love boy, Levi who is turning 2 March 11th 2012.  I have a wonderful workaholic husband Richard Stovall who has just started his own business with our two friends Ryan Doty and Cathy Redson.  We, together, are SOLPOWERPEOPLE!!  Our new company is on the road to execute our dream of teaching intensive 40 hour solar training all over the US.

This blog however, is about me as a mom, on the road with my family.  Raising toddlers and running a company from our RV aka: our HOME!

My days consist of entertaining the kids, keeping the books for the company and the most fun for me is cooking for my family, Ryan and Cathy.  I love to try new recipes and conveniently enough, as a start up company we are too broke to eat out, so they are stuck eating the food that I make!
